Celebrating Our Centenarians

A 100th birthday calls for a big celebration. During 2011 there were three big celebrations at Sacred Heart Convent in Wilmette, IL. Click on one of the photos above to read the article - which appears in the Winter 2011-2012 edition of BREAD BROKEN - about our three centenarians: an artist, a teacher and a principal.

THE WESTERN PROVINCE JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF 2011
The Jubilee celebration on June 26, 2011, was an all-day affair. First the Sisters met in the parlor of Sacred Heart Convent to receive their corsages. After a festive breakfast they met in the community room to look over their gift tables and receive last-minute instructions for Mass.

At 11:00 seven of the jubilarians traveled to St. Joseph Church. There they joined the parishioners at the 11:30 Mass. After the homily the jubilarians renewed their vows.

After Mass, priests, jubilarians and parishioners crossed the street to St. Joseph School. In St. Joseph Hall they enjoyed refreshments and conversation.

Returning to Sacred Heart Convent after 3:00 p.m., the jubilarians had a few minutes of rest before gathering in the convent chapel for vespers.  Supper and an evening of recreation were the last two items on the agenda for the day.
