The New Regional Leadership Team

S. Janice - outgoing Regional Leader - was honored during the day's celebrations.

On September 8, 2019 the new Regional Leadership Team was installed: S. Mary Ann, S. Juliana, S. Monica, S. Anastasia. Fr. Wayne Watts, pastor of Sts. Joseph and Francis Parish in Wilmette, celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving (honoring the Leadership of the past 3 years) that morning.

Busy Days

Summer 2019 was a busy time for the Sisters of the Western Region. On June 14th the Sisters met at Sacred Heart Convent to discuss Regional business. The next day was spent in converting the meeting room into a recreation room and preparing for the annual jubilee celebration on Sunday, June 16th. This year five Sisters marked milestone anniversaries:

S. Pauline - 75 years;

S. Alice Mary, S. Francetta and S. Rosemary - 70 years;

and S. Carol - 40 years.

The Sisters joined the parishioners at St. Joseph Church for Mass then enjoyed a reception in the school's cafeteria. In the evening we were treated to a surprise: Karaoke Night! Songs from the 1930s and 1940s were on the soundtrack and everyone sang along.

On Monday evening a large crowd joined the Sisters in chapel for Taizé prayer.

Feeding the Hungry

On March 16, 2019 five SCCs were among the 400 people packing 100,000 highly-nutritious meals for hungry people in Nicaragua and local food pantries. There were 12 tables of 12 volunteers working one of 3 two-hour shifts. In addition, various civic groups staffed registration tables, kept refilling the food on the tables, etc. The SCCs volunteered for the 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. shift. All agreed that their time was well spent.

Happy 105th Birthday Sister Agnette!

On Monday, February 4, 2019 Sr. Agnette celebrated her 105th birthday. "Happy Birthday" was played on bagpipes and accordion, and the Sisters and guests sang along. Sister thoroughly enjoyed it. Her favorite entree - hamburgers - were served and everyone enjoyed cake and maple ice cream (requested by Sister) for dessert.
